Chrome Upper Engine
For a little extra bling why not chrome the whole upper engine. I did both valve covers, the upper intake plenum and lower intake, the fuel rails, the water housing, the spark plug plate (a Dave Best original!), the vacuum hose organizer, and a few misc brackets. Here are the parts before chroming:
I decided not to do the coil pack bracket and PTU bracket as they won't really be seen much when installed. The Dave Best plate was originaly polished aluminum so wasn't as shiny and easy to maintain so I decided to chrome it. Here are the finished parts. VERY shiny!!
Well not quite all of the because the front valve cover and spark plug plate required powder coating as well. I was in a big hurry to try to make a track day meet at Sacramento Raceway on October 17 and my last valve cover and spark plug plate arrived Friday morning October 16. I had a lot of work to do so didn't take pictures along the way. I had everything assembled by midnight on Friday but the car wouldn't start and I could not figure out why. It turns out I had failed to reconnect the injector resistor pack harness while cleaning up the firewall a couple of weeks prior. So I was 24 hours late for the track day and had to miss out :-(.
Putting the fuel rails back together. I later chromed the fuel loop, polished the fuel line and fuel pressure regulator seen here.
